Apotheosis was a Belgian techno duo most known for their techno adaption of "O Fortuna", a song from Carl Orff's Carmina Burana. Apotheosis consisted of Luc Rigaux and Patrick Samoy, temporarily joined by Diego de Mol. Their first single release was "O Fortuna" and became a big club hit. The estate of Carl Orff took legal action in court to stop the distribution of the records on the grounds of copyright infringement. Judgment was finally accorded to the estate and each CD or vinyl release of "O Fortuna" has been stopped and withdrawn. Nevertheless, this track reached #4 in the Dutch single charts. After then they released six further official singles until they quit in 1996.
Apotheosis are also known as The Unity Mixers releasing the legendary Electro Sound Megamix issues, mixed and produced at their own studio called Network Studio. Further artist name variations are Mastermixers Unity, The Mixmen and Unity
