Leandro Roque de Oliveira (born August 17, 1985), better known by his stage name Emicida, is a Brazilian MC. He is considered one of the biggest revelations of hip hop in Brazil in recent years, such as the emcees Criolo (formerly Criolo Doido), Ogi, Projota, Rashid, Marechal, Kamau and among others, showing the rise of Brazilian Hip Hop, and also showing that Brazil is one of the best and more contusing in the genre.

The name Emicida is a fusion of the words Emcee and homicide, because of his frequent victories in the battles of improvisation, his friends began to say that Leandro was a "killer", and "kill" their opponents through rhymes. Later, the rapper created an acronym of what the name stands for: E.M.I.C.I.D.A (Enquanto Minha Imaginação Compor Insanidades Domino A Arte - in a rough translation, While my imagination compose insanities I dominate the art). Their live performances are accompanied by the DJ instrumental in Nyack. The Emicida career began in the early 1990, while their parents organized black dances in the outskirts of São Paulo, where he then began to use the equipment and write the first rhymes.
