Earl Solomon Burroughs (born Fulton County, Georgia, 16 September 1925), better known by his stage name Jack Hammer, is an American pianist, singer and songwriter. Among his hits was "Great Balls of Fire".
Jack also wrote ELECTRIC GOD (a play of Jimi Hendrix' life) and produced it on satge in the Village circa 1973 I first met Jack in London about 1971. We (DEMON FUZZ) had just released our first LP AFREAKA. He and I hit it off immediately. He was doing a 2nd rate Sammy Davis type show (a real song and dance man) in the west end. I was his connection to the black clubs in London where he found some satisfaction in the partying. He told me he didnt like flying thats why he came on the Queen Mary to southampton from New York. He had a light green fast back Mustang and it real fun and excitement to ride in this American car in London with the top down. Jack was very cavalier with money. He would not let me spend a dime when we went to the clubs. I ran into him again in 1972 when I migrated to New York and was managing RECORD HAVEN at 1476 BROADWAY in TIMES SQ..One of his helpers in the production of ELECTRIC GOD was a lady named FLORENE WILEY She was everything from gofer to stage assistant and PR person . I have not seen or heard about Jack since 1976 when I went to work in Harlem.. paddy corea (Demon Fuzz)
